‘Be the Change’ Emerges in Downtown Los Altos
Arts Los Altos, a local nonprofit, commissioned a bold, larger-than-life mural of orange California poppies and monarch butterflies—entitled "Be the Change"—by artist Cameron Moberg at 169 State St. Located directly across from the State St. Market. Completed on November 19, 2021, this new mural has already begun exciting residents and visitors while providing them with fun photo opportunities to interact with the giant flowers and monarchs.
Arts Los Altos’ mission is to bring privately funded public art to Downtown Los Altos. This is their fourth new installation as part of a long term vision for a vibrant Third Street Art Walk. More projects are planned along this corridor for 2022 (and beyond), all privately funded and installed with the cooperation of local property owners.
San Francisco-based artist Cameron Moberg, @CAMER1SF on Instagram, began painting at an early age and morphed into a graffiti artist using street art techniques with spray paint on urban surfaces. He developed into an acclaimed artist with a unique vision and style of hyper-realistic imagery portraying natural themes and human beings' relationships with nature. Through his art, Cameron tries to make the world a better, kinder and more beautiful place, hence his theme for this mural: Be the Change.
Arts Los Altos projects aim to ensure that the arts are an integral part of life in our community. Founded in late 2019, our all-volunteer team works directly with artists and downtown commercial property owners to curate and install vibrant public art in downtown Los Altos – all funded by private donations and grants.
