Six years. 20+ works of public art. A more colorful, connected Los Altos.

Thanks to a community of artists, property owners, businesses, volunteers and donors, you’ve helped our community be a little more connected, creative and alive.

From hands-on art experiences to events and new installations, we want art to be something you don’t just see around town, but something you can be part of. Your gift at any level goes into the fund that makes all of it possible.

Totemic
by Charlie Gadeken

Imagine walking through Los Altos and finding a sculpture that responds to your heartbeat.

Touch the handprints cast into the bronze and sensors detect your pulse. Lights inside the sculpture glow through orange and green glass, dimming and brightening in rhythm with your heartbeat. It’s art you can touch and experience exactly the kind of experience we want to bring more of to Los Altos.

200 Main Street
Restoration

Creating public art is only part of the job. Keeping it beautiful takes care, too. This year, that includes repairing and adding a new clear coat to the mural at 200 Main Street, so this work can continue to be enjoyed for years to come.

What goes into public art

We’re an all-volunteer nonprofit and a public art project can easily run $10,000–$50,000 from start to finish along with the repair costs we manage in keeping all the murals protected and fresh.
