If you were in downtown Los Altos on First Friday, September 5, you might have seen a large group of people wandering from place to place downtown following someone with a microphone. Who were they and what were they doing?

That was the Arts Los Altos Public Art & Poetry Walk, and it was a huge success! Over forty people came out to listen to poems written and inspired by specific public art installations in downtown Los Altos. Arts Los Altos teamed up with local poetry groups Salt & Poetry and Poetry Los Altos to make this event happen.

Inspired by similar events in other cities, Hilary King of Poetry Los Altos and Salt & Poetry sought out local poets to write original poems about the art. Maddy McBirney, co-founder of Arts Los Altos, led the tour. Six poets read their poems at each of the artworks on the tour. Enjoy them below!
